In this class you will learn to cook traditional Japanese New Year (Osechi) foods. New Year is the biggest celebration day of the year in Japan. Japanese people start preparing New Year foods in traditional styles several days before the New Year, which runs for 3 days of celebrations. The idea is that the Mum (or home cook) need not cook on any of these 3 days!
There are so many different dishes for Osechi and all dishes have a special meaning in the celebration of a New Year. In recent times, Western-style Japanese dishes such as kara-age and katsu have become more popular in Japan for Osechi.
During this class you will learn to make 10 different Osechi dishes – the traditional fundamental foods of Osechi.
